Public Art Projects - The Bill Tutte Memorial
Over the years Hitec is proud to have been involved with local Cambridge based artist & sculpture Harry Gray. Hitec manufactured the Public Art sculptures which Harry designed and was subsequently recognised for, in National Awards. Code Breaker the Bill Tutte Memorial, was shortlisted for the Marsh Awards for Excellence and achieved ‘commended’ in the Award for Best use of Arts, Culture or Sport in Place Making.
The Bill Tutte Memorial was commissioned to commemorate the work of Second World War Codebreaker, at Bletchley Park, William Tutte, who was born in Newmarket. This is a permanent piece which stands in Newmarket High Street in Suffolk.
Hitec manufactured the six brushed stainless steel panels, which are approximately 7ft tall and perforated to resemble punch paper and when viewed from a distance form the image of Bill Tutte.
The work for Hitec involved Laser Cutting, Folding & Welding on a large scale.
